Formed in summer 2015.

Folk and Americana trio specialising in original songs and our own arrangements of traditional and lesser known folk songs.

We are recognised for our striking use of close harmony singing, often a cappella, and our diverse range of instruments such as cello, Irish bouzouki, classical and steel string guitar, and percussion.
During the past few years we have performed at various festivals, such as Folk East, Wild Tree Fair, Harlequin, Mersea Food & Drink Festival, Harwich Festival of the Arts, and support sets for Hannah Sanders & Ben Savage, Belshazzar's Feast and Gilmore & Roberts at Colchester Arts Centre.

We also support many local music events and live music sessions in East Anglia.

Columbines are available to perform for various private events, including house concerts, festivals, weddings, art private views, book launches, small gigs in the corner of cafes - we enjoy playing small venues as well as larger events and are always happy to plan a set to suit the occasion.
We are based in North Essex/South Suffolk but willing to travel.

"The Columbines have folk roots combining single mic close harmonies (think "O Brother, Where Art Thou?") with beautiful acoustic accompaniment such as Bouzouki, Cello and Guitar.
Great songs and thoroughly recommended" ~ Suffolk Songwriters
“Columbines gave us a wonderful performance at our December club night - a hugely talented trio, performing in the delightful ambience of their 'living room' on stage!! Fantastic sound and a truly fantastic story of how the band met - you had to be there!  ~Wivenhoe Folk Club

"I’ve been going to see the Columbines at festivals and other events for some time, and I can honestly say it's time well spent". ~ Bards Aloud
"I've had the pleasure of seeing The Columbines a few times now. I find myself evermore impressed by the warmth and grace of their music. Their three part harmonies complement the natural tones of their instruments perfectly as their timeless songs unfold. Well worth catching them live!"
